Photo of the Day: February 25, 2015 (The Blues of Glacier)

The Blues of Glacier

McDonald Creek offers a beautiful example of he characteristic turquoise blue water found in Glacier National Park.  The turquoise coloring is from glacial flour, which is the fine particulates suspended in the water and is caused by the grinding of rocks when glaciers slide over them.

Photo of the Day: February 20, 2015 (Meade Hotel)

Meade Hotel
Originally built in 1875 in Bannack, Montana, as the first Beaverhead County Courthouse, it remained empty for nearly a decade after the county seat was moved to Dillon, Montana in 1881.  The building was purchased and transformed in a hotel by Dr. John Christian Meade in 1890.  Hotel Meade operated on and off until the 1940s.  Bannack is one of the best preserved ghost towns in Montana.

Photo of the Day: February 18, 2015 (Skies on Fire)

Skies On Fire
People ask me what my biggest tip for photography is and I have to say one of my favorites is to look behind you.  Some of the best photographs I have ever gotten have been when there is an amazing scene in front of me and then I turn around and find something even more incredible behind me.  This was one of those shots.

Photo of the Day: February 17, 2015 (Pink Skies Over Gray Wolf)

I recently was asked by a follower why I had stopped posting my photos of the day...and the truth is life just got in the way.  At his request, I am going to try to start posting them again.  So, today I thought it fitting that I start with the mountains that inspire me most. I hope you enjoy.  <3 Christine

Pink Skies Over Gray Wolf

The other night I saw my daughter grab her iPod and run outside---this is what she was running to take a picture of.  I couldn't agree with her more that it was a picture worthy sunset.

Photo of the Day: September 13, 2013 (Fire Skies Through a Window)

Fire Skies Through a Window

Tonight's sunset may have been one of the most incredible sunsets I have ever observed. I left the highway, drove the back roads and took some pictures, but mostly enjoy the beauty. A unique view of the fire-like sunset through the trees in Arlee. September 2013.

Rugged Rockies

Experiencing the pure ruggedness of the Rocky Mountains is pretty easy when you are in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness.  These two peaks, Pilot and Index Peak, show the sheer harshness and pure beauty of the Rockies.  September 2007.

Photo of the Day: September 11, 2013 (America the Beautiful)

America the Beautiful

To me, this picture is America: it stands for our freedom, our beauty and our strength.  On a day like today, we all need to stand back and reflect upon our freedoms and opportunities in the United States of America.  God Bless all the people who lost their lives on 9-11-01, the heroes and the victims, let us Never Forget.  Photo from the top of Logan Pass in Glacier National Park.  September 2009.

Majestic Elk

Elk are one of the most majestic creatures on Earth.  Throw the Mission Mountains in the background and it can't get much more majestic than that!  The bull elk was walking away from the herd after battling with the "herd bull" at the Bison Range.  September 2008.
