Rising out of the glacial cool waters of Yellowstone Lake is the inactive geyser, the Fishing Cone. Found at the West Thumb Geyser Basin, the Fishing Cone used erupt as high as 40 feet but is now inactive and has been reclassified as a hot spring. Legend has it that early settlers would catch a fish and the dunk it in the cone to cook the fish. September 2009. |
